Responsibility: Act as Tri-Campus liaison to Community Colleges
Goal for '04-'05: Bring to fruition two community outreach events with Community Colleges in catchment area.
Breakdown of catchment areas for Tri-Campus
The Community College System consists of twelve institutions within the state borders. Asnuntuck, Capital, Tunxis and Middlesex appear to have greater proximity to the West Hartford Campus; Naugatuck Valley aligns well with Waterbury Campus; and Northwestern is closest to Torrington Campus. Housatonic students living above Bridgeport might find a home in Waterbury and Gateway students also need a Regional Campus connection.
Tri-Campus/CC engagement activities during the past year include visits to CC campuses and System Office, individual meetings and breakfast with their Presidents, frequent meetings with Deans, continuation of the Northwest Partnership for Autism Spectrum Disorder, and a new statewide initiative and collaboration for Human Rights awareness.
A questionnaire was distributed to Tri-Campus personnel seeking personal/professional connections individuals have with Community College counterparts or colleagues. A similar questionnaire will be distributed to the Community Colleges for their responses.
Through the Office of Education Partnerships and Jill Thorne I have been invited to attend BS/BT and Family Studies articulation meetings, a Guaranteed Admissions Meeting and to serve on the newly named UCONN Early College Experience Advisory Board.
In order to stay connected and maintain academic credibility I have continued my activities with New England Association of Schools and Colleges, New England College Council, and The College Board, playing leadership roles in all of them. I also attended a CUMU conference in New York City last fall along with other Tri-Campus leaders.
