Meeting Notes
Tri-Campus Leadership Team
August 3, 2005
Waterbury Campus

Present: Edna McBreen, David Williams, Michael Menard, William Pizzuto, Tessie Naranjo, Dana Forchette, Judy DiLaurenzio , Melinda Rising, Sheila Harris, William Uricchio, Bonnie Smith, Lee Melvin & Terry Reilly

.Lee Melvin Associate Director of Enrollment Management distributed information regarding Freshmen and Transfer Student deposits for 2005, noting that the figures are not yet final and that freshmen and transfer students will continue to be admitted to the Regional Campuses. He reported that as of this date, with the exception of the Greater Hartford Campus, the Fall 2005 Regional Campus freshmen enrollment figures appear to be just short of the Fall 2004 figures.

Lee spoke at length of efforts being made to increase enrollment …stressing that we all are ultimately representing UCONN even as we encourage enrollment at the regional campuses. Efforts include the Sophomore Campaign, more concentrated focus on two year Community College Transfer Students, High School visits with one person representing all UConn campuses, Elementary / Middle School Visits.(Edna agreed to fund “handout” materials for the Elementary / Middle School project,)Regional representation at Storrs Open House and Focus on Marketing the Regional Campuses.

He gave high credit to the regional campus Admission Counselors who had

participated in application review at Storrs this past year and reported that the

plan is for the regional campus Admissions Counselors to serve as the “go to”

person in their respective regions with more independence regarding the review of regional applications next semester.

The need to have Admissions offices covered in the absence of the Admissions Counselor was agreed upon with Directors asked to focus on that issue as well as Campus capacity analysis .

To enhance consistency and accountability, Lee would like regional Campus Admissions Counselors to prepare a recruitment plan for use in planning next year's recruiting program. It was agreed also that Lee will have input into the annual evaluations of regional Admissions Counselors.

In response to a question from Lin Rising regarding the status of Guaranteed Admissions for regional campuses, Lee indicated that the CLAS GAA for all Community Colleges should be in place prior to initiating the program for regional campuses. Lin responded that she believed the great majority of Community Colleges were more interested in the regional campuses if for no other reason than logistics.

Edna asked Lee to provide more frequent and detailed information to the regional campuses.

At the close of the meeting, Tessie Naranjo distributed FY 05 year end and FY 06 projected budget reports

On behalf of Robin Simmons, Bonnie Smith distributed a draft agenda and survey for the Fall 2005 Faculty Orientation meetings scheduled

August 22, 23 and 24. The Directors were asked to contact Robin directly with their comments/suggestions as quickly as possible .

The next meeting is scheduled for August 31, at the
Greater Hartford Campus.
