Tri-Campus Leadership Team
June 8, 2005
Greater Hartford Campus

Present: Edna McBreen, Bill Pizzuto, Mike Menard, David Williams, Tessie Naranjo Robin Simmons, Angela Brightly, Judy DiLaurenzio, Nadine Brennan, Stuart Brown, Dan O'Reilly, Sylvia Kaczmarczyk , Doug Rubin, Christine Mosman, Molly Russin, Jim Long, Sarah Dimeo, Dana Forchette, Victor Schiavi, Bill Urichhio, Lin Rising, Tony Hopkins, Bonnie Smith

1. Approval of meeting notes from May 11, 2005
   were unanimously approved.

   Leadership Team Members' Responsibilities Chart and Leadership Team Meeting Summer Schedule both approved by Directors on May 25, 2005 were disseminated.
   

2. Student Activities
   Edna McBreen stated that as it is a Tri-Campus Goal to prepare all students for life both in and beyond higher education …to adapt to change, to initiate change when appropriate and necessary, to make sound decisions, to problem solve, etc… it is evident that we must focus on student leadership.

   ASG Presidents Molly Russin - Torrington ; Sylvia Kaczmarczyk (past president) & Doug Rubin- Hartford and Sarah Dimeo-Waterbury were introduced. All others in attendance gave brief descriptions of their own specific job related responsibilities as well as personal experiences that might serve as resource for those developing leadership programs. A lengthy “brainstorming” discussion followed with input from all….

   Sarah Dimeo suggested several opportunities for work shops and conferences; Christine Mosman disseminated and reviewed an executive summary of a paper published by the Kellogg Foundation; Dan O'Reilly distributed four handouts on developing and promoting leadership programs.

   It was agreed that we must define “leadership” and that we must develop programs that not only spark student's interests, but also fit into their already overextended schedules.

   Christine Mosman was asked to head-up this effort … to continue meeting with her colleague Tri-Campus Student Activities Coordinators (Jim Long and Dan O'Reilly) and ASG representatives and to report back as ideas are formulated.

3. Reports
   1. Budget Status Report

      Tessie Naranjo distributed budget reports for each Campus, AVP, School of Business, Urban & Community Studies Programs and Recruiter Accounts.

   2. Search Status Report
      Bonnie Smith distributed June 8, 2005 Search status report.

   3. Facilities Status Report
      Tessie Naranjo distributed update status report regarding facilities projects at each campus.

4. Additional Items
   Edna noted that Deans' Council Minutes had been sent out and asked that if anyone would like to discuss an item they should request that it be put on the next agenda.
   
   Memo drafted by new VP Veronica Makowsky clarifying “ Engineering ” issue was distributed by Edna. Sr. Admissions Counselor Dana Forchette is to determine whether or not students have been admitted erroneously and e-mail all with the information.

Tri-Campus Work Force Data Sheets were distributed. for review and modification. Any modifications are to be sent electronically to Bonnie Smith prior to June 22 meeting

Edna reviewed memo she had sent to Veronica Makowsky regarding TC Administrative Office move to Hartford Campus

Nadine Brennan asked for status report of Family Services Program.

Directors are to Review Existing policy and determine whether or not they wish to use this program based in Waterbury or would rather pursue a program “closer” to their home campus.  

Bonnie Smith noted past agenda items that have not yet been resolved. They will be placed as “follow-up” items on next agenda.

Lin Rising highlighted up-coming Human Resource Steering Committee Meeting – Room 308 Greater Hartford Campus – Friday, June 24

 

The next Leadership Team meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, 2005 10AM to Noon Greater Hartford Campus.
